2019 Find Your Career Path: My personal story of seeking success.
When I first started down this road of seeking success I just wanted to find a way to make an income in case I ever needed it. I had seen some financial setbacks from my spouse that he had no control over, yet we were negatively impacted by them. We seemed to live in a survival mode where the future was uncertain and beyond our control. There were too many dynamics of “if this” or “if that” and I wanted more for my life with a primary motive being to take care of my kids. I grew up poor and I wanted more for them. I seen the struggles of poverty and how that impacted happiness and essentially everything in your life from your mental health to your physical comforts. As a child, I witnessed how poverty eroded the minds and hearts of those it touched.
I also wanted to help people. For me I felt I had a purpose and I was here to accomplish something great. Some great work, although I had no idea what it was. I didn’t think “I” was great but that I could accomplish something great. That I held the key to some great work. That somehow I could be part of alleviating suffering.
I grew up Christian and I sought a higher power with all my will. I remember being 7 years old reading children’s bible books and praying for the wisdom the prophets held so I could one day guide people with wisdom. Who asks for that??? Yet I did. It made sense to me that if I wanted to do something great I’d have to be part of something greater than me.
Fast forward to today where I have built a highly specialized niche, making great money and working with people I adore and respect. I chose a place on the map where I wanted to live and moved my family there to have more opportunity. I lead my family financially and set goals everyday so I can grow into the person I desire become to carry my purpose into the world. I have made reaching my heights and teaching others HOW to do it a cornerstone of my life. It alone has become my purpose.
Although I’m not religious these days I still seek spiritual growth as the key to unlock my potential. Here’s an outline of what I did to create the kind of success that I have created. My hope is that it inspires you to find what makes you unique and how you can contribute to the world like … only … you … can.
Step one: I asked my higher power to show me my purpose. I started using spiritual tools like the prayer of Jabez and prayer in general but specifically asking to find, be shown, be directed to my purpose. Slowly this began to happen. I started to remember what I always wanted to do and I began to find new ways to bring it to life.
Step two: I prayed for guidance. I asked to be shown the signs on the path so I knew which paths to take and which paths were not on track for me. I remember a specific time I was talking to someone about a career shift. I was asking myself if this could be a good possibility and I don’t know how to explain it but I seen an doorway open next to the person who was talking to me and it’s like I could watch that choice play out right before my eyes. I seen it was NOT my path. The vision closed up in just a matter of moments. I am not sure how this will happen for you, but I know that the information you ask for will be revealed IF you ask.
Step three: I sought information. I educated myself in the areas I thought would propel me forward. I wanted to become an expert and I sought out many things. Some of them stuck with me and turned into my career tools while some of them went away or took another form. At one point I learned about energy. For a brief moment I was willing to give up my entire career to pursue doing energy work. Thank goodness that feeling passed! Yet the studying of energy was an integral part of developing the work I do today. I needed to know how it worked to do what I do today.
Step four: I built my self-esteem. Growing up poor and misunderstood didn’t lend itself to must self-esteem development. I had a LOT of work to do in this area. Overtime, I learned to value myself and put down boundaries to toxic situations. I refused to be mistreated. I learned how to stand up for myself. I learned how to ask for what I wanted. I cleaned up dysfunctional relationships and patterns within. I let go of addictions, resentment, un-forgivness and righteousness. On many levels I am still a work in progress, yet light years from where I have been.
Step four: I created a highly sought after niche that went beyond a traditional model that got results. I built what worked based on my gifts. I learned how to market, sell and deliver my programs. This was really where things began to get juicy!
Although this is my journey, honestly I think everyone should do the same.
Here’s the truth…
You have gifts that when monetized become your greatest leverage for fulfillment and freedom.
You have a capacity to rise far beyond what you think you can do and all you have to do is take the first step.
Best of all there is a transformation in your soul waiting to take you to the next level.
So get ready. Dig in. Find your message. Find your purpose. Rise to your next level. If I can do this so can you!
Here’s to 2019!
